Just letting you know that python-minimal-2.6.5-0ubuntu1 is still the latest version in Lucid, and this bug is still present. This bug is a year old, Lucid is still LTS, and a patch is available. And it is a bug. This causes an error message when installing any package that depends on pycompile,

Both 2.6.5-0ubuntu1.1 and 2.6.5-0ubuntu2 are free to use as version numbers for this release. Looking at http://people.canonical.com /~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html it seems that these days there is a preference for -0ubuntu1.1. Pick the one you like best ;) ** Patch added: debdiff releasing

Hmmm Odd. /usr/bin/pycompile on my systems has the following configuration: SUPPORTED_VERSIONS = [(2, 5), (2, 6), (3, 1)] DEFAULT_VERSION = (2, 5) Obviously if I change the default version 2.6 I can compile without needing to specify the version on the command line. Package: python-minimal
