That's the question. I use Thunderbird and have a sound set. For me,
it works. So what does it mean that it's "not working"? Is it that
*you* have not chosen a sound file for Thunderbird? Or are you having
other issues. If you've set a sound file and it's /still/ not working,

I think it should be working out of the package by default like on
Windows and Mac. Why should one have to set it up manually?

What debugging steps have you gone through to make it work. Have you
set a sound for it to play? Look in Edit -> Preferences for a checkbox
like "Play a sound".
Marking invalid, assuming that you just haven't set a sound. If you've
set a sound and are still unable to get a sound via the "Play"
