For the record, it was a library problem due to how the Ubuntu dev team
modified GTK+, it has since been fixed.

I can't reproduce this, and we haven't heard back from the reporter so
I'll close this report. If anyone can confirm that this still exists in

I can't reproduce this on Maverick with inkscape_0.47.0-2ubuntu3. Is it
actually an issue with Inkscape itself or is it some other library which
has changed during Maverick development?

The areas in inkscape which display swatches are translucent in Maverick
and makes them invisible when whatever is behind the window is white. I
will attach a screenshot illustrating this. In the screenshot, as you
can see, the top shows inkscape in front of a white background, the
bottom showing
