[Bug 59433] Re: breaks display

2006-10-25 Thread stsykin
The problem seems to have gone away of its own volition (it wasn't even soon after i did an upgrade, I just thought I'd try again), so I'm closing this bug. Interestingly, sudo nvidia-glx-config enable did nothing, telling me that the nvidia driver couldn't be found, but changing my xorg.conf

Kernel panic attached. Nvidia module is involved, and the panic happens during boot, perhaps at Xorg start, I don't know. I can provide the entire kernel log if necessary. I still have a blank screen, no cursor. I am able to connect to the machine, and ctrl-alt-del does reboot. ** Attachment

ctrl+alt+del doesn't reboot for me. Should it? I use Kubuntu and it just enters the screen which asks me if I want to shut down, go into standby, etc. Sasha -- breaks display https://launchpad.net/bugs/59433 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com

I am experiencing this same problem. I am re-installing usplash now (I removed it in an attempt to make things work/get a better view of the problem). What I experience when I've configured xorg to use the nvidia driver is that my display goes blank. I am unable to switch to any other virtual

so X works fine or doesnt work at all? did you install the drivers teh linux-restricteed-modules-2.6.17-7? What version of usplash are you using? if X isnt broken what stopped working? after installing the nvidia drivers did you change to the nvidia drivers in xorg.conf file? did you run sudo

[Bug 59433] Re: breaks display

2006-09-08 Thread stsykin
X doesn't work if it is installed at all. It is a fully updated version of edgy. I have no idea what was actually broken, but after installing nvidia-glx it stopped working. I figured out how to get the tty shells working though, if I hit the esc key it started working for some reason. Very odd.
