the error is:
init: Plymouth-log main process (298) terminated status 1

well, I guess plymouth just isn't running at all, but don't know why. Please
try running it by hand from a running system:
- switch to VT1
- log in as root (or run sudo -s)
- shut down X (service gdm stop)
- start plymouth manually, by running: plymouthd --mode=boot --no-daemon
--debug
- if
If you add 'plymouth:debug=file:/var/log/plymouth-debug.log' to your
boot options, you should get a file containing debug info. The
plymouth-splash error probably shows up in /var/log/boot.log as well,

It's strange that plymouth-splash should fail this way, since all it
does is call
While booting today the 1st line was (something like)
init: plymouth-splash terminated {520} with status code 1
Something like that there were 3 lines but its too fast to write it down. I'm
surprised there isn't a file that would hold Plymouth errors on boot

I am unable to get the error for you. I don't have time to write it down and i
am thinking screen shot wont help since GDM isn't loaded after Plymouth. I'm
not sure if i can get the errors to print out to a file, (should be default if
Ok. You said you get info when it fails... what is this info? So far
nothing in this bug report really hints at what the problem is.
