Before the change, I could sleep with the whitelisted module
workaround, but now, my computer doesn't go to sleep fully (I have a
thinkpad, and I get a moon and a battery led illuminated, and the fan is
still on).
Any ideas?

those of you whose problem has been solved, is your SAVE_VBE_STATE set
to true or false in /etc/default/acpi-support?
i had it set to false, and was still having problems. maybe i'll toggle
it back to true.
and how is your wireless?

The latest kernel (2.6.17-10.33) works better but still not perfect. I
can suspend once, without whitelistning the e1000 module. The second
time it still hangs with the moon flashing...

I just suspended and resumed with kernel 2.6.17-10.33 about 10 times in
a row, in various states of AC and ethernet and had NO problems at all.
It hasn't panic'd for me yet, but I have no access points around, so I
haven't tried it with wireless at this point.
A huge improvement!

I don't see any recent changes listed for the e1000 module. Did you
also whitelist the module before seeing these changes?

No, I haven't performed any of the workarounds from this thread.

I tested the newer kernel without the workaround, and I am no longer
experiencing kernel panics on my X60s on the second suspend. However,
my screen only powers on when I have the e1000 module whitelisted. The
machine resumes properly otherwise and I can type commands blind or
suspend again by
Right, the fix I applied took care of the panic. The other issue you're
talking about would warrant another bug report.

For what it's worth, I get crashes every time I remove the e1000 driver,
even without X running at all. I do have a radeon graphics card, too.

Is there a downside to whitelisting the e1000 module?

The only one I have noticed is that I have to force NetworkManager to
reconnect to the network when I am on one wired network and suspend, and
then move to another wired network and resume.

well... thats not a big deal
So this is a workable solution to this problem at the moment (though i'm
kind of curious what caused the e1000 module to suddenly start making the
machine crash when suspending, and why that problem hasn't been fixed)

I should mention that I have an Intel 950 integrated graphics card, not
a Radeon card. I haven't tested it without X runn, but I don't know
what the relation between the two would be.
