Hmm.. I don't know what to say. I can still reproduce this on my machine.. However, I did see it once where the password I typed was hidden, but I couldn't reproduce that anymore either.. Not sure if this helps. But I use grub, and typed 'e' to edit the Linux boot, then I typed 'e' again on the
