Jason Brooks, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from

For my hardware bug I just tested it with a laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 -
no hang, all works fine. On a different computer with Ubuntu 10.10 (and
nvidia driver) it is enough to just plug in the receiver (even with
keyboard and mouse batteries removed) to get the left click on all other
mice stop
I just got the same symptoms - my culprit is an A4Tech wireless
keyboard/mouse combo. As soon as the receiver for it is plugged in, all
mice stop working - the left click key down even registers around 5% of
the time and the key up event around 10% of the time (as shown by xev).

and it still persists.
Basically once any Sound output occurs (Rhythmbox or Flash) the left-
click stops responding.
Oddly enough the Ubuntu sound plays fine on login, so I don't
I've duplicated the same issue with both a Microsoft wired optical mouse
and a Microsoft wireless optical mouse:
Playing a sound file via movie player / rhythmbox causes the left click
button to cease working with the wireless mouse. When I restart gdm and
do the same with the wired mouse, all
further clarification after more testing: it is not the output of sound
that is causing the mice to stop responding. It is using any of the
'media keys' on my Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard that screws up
future input. Bug #636311

Also, all these apport files come from my installed-on-disk instance of
maverick, although I did test this with a live USB on the same hardware.
