Hey, sorry I missed this one. No, nothing. I filed another bug as
instructed and followed the ABC's of sound bugs but nothing worked. I
really didn't expect any resolution on this to be honest as it's oldish
hardware now and I doubt people with the know how have access to or interest
in
Kristian, did you have any luck with this?

Hey Guys,
Is there likely to be any movement on this? I am writing this on a
Toshiba Satellite U200 PT3. It also has no sound out of the box with
either Kubuntun or Ubuntu 10.10 with all updates.
Some info, hopefully some of it is useful??

Hey Luke, sorry it's been a while since I got back to you. This is a
machine at work that I'm not using it all the time. I tried adding that
line to alsa-base.conf, but it didn't work. Although, I don't have a
thinkpad, this is a ThinkCentre PC ... so maybe it has a different card?
I've got a mic
Hey Brian. The sound is off on all apps. This is a fresh install of
10.10 with updates and unrestricted extras (codecs).

Please open the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf as root and add the
following line to the end of the file:
options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad
Save the file, and reboot. Please report back as to whether this allows
you to hear sound.
Also, how many audio connectors, both input and output,

What are the steps to re-produce this? Is this just a specific bundled
app that comes with the package, or are you saying your sound is off on
all apps that use the driver?
