I have kinda similar problem, I guess, started an hour ago, when i
rebooted.
My setup looks like this
laptop dock kvm-switch mouse
and
laptop dock keyboard
External mouse and keyboard makes xserver crash, if in instead use
onboard touchpad and keyboard it works...that is if i don't touch

same problem here, labtop Toshiba AX/940LS. I noticed that mouse dies
particularly often when using wheel to scroll down to the bottom of a
webpage. The only difference is that I am running Ubuntu, not Kubuntu.
Btw, does it mean there was no such problem in dapper?

Same problem after 45 mins when using Toshiba Satellite L20 running
Xubuntu 6.06 with Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse luckily onboard touchpad
still works !
Unplug mouse and it disappears from lsusb replug and lsusb then
hangs as well !

I am having a similar problem on my Toshiba satellite laptop. After
upgrading to edgy I have problems with both my mouse and my keyboard.
My USB optical mouse freezes after several minutes of using Kde, I am
still able to use my touchpad which works flawlessly.
The keyboard problem is similar.
