Correction: I meant to say the Natty Alternate amd64 CD (not the i386
CD); the test system from which I just reported results is an amd64
system.

I don't believe so. I apologize for leaving this alone for so long; I
should have marked it Invalid or Fix Released when William Moon never
replied to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/673588/comments/9.
I don't have either of the Natty systems that I was using at that time,
but
is this still an issue with natty?

I just set up a Natty i386 command line system (using the Natty Alpha 1
i386 Alternate Install CD -- it's an option when you press F4 in the
boot menu). Using aptitude, I updated the system, and then installed

I no longer experience this problem on my i386 Lubuntu Natty Alpha 1
system. Yelp now launches successfully (and runs smoothly). Presumably,
some update (to something) fixed it.
My system is now running yelp 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 (a later version than when
I last tested it). Furthermore, I now *do* have
I don't want to represent myself as knowing the best way to continue
investigating this issue...but if you're interested in indulging my
possibly useful curiosity, would you be willing to post (i.e. attach)
the output of "strace yelp", up to the point when the initial "Ubuntu
Help" window comes up?
Currently I have xulrunner 1.9.2.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
When I was having the problem before the upgrade, yelp was trying to
open "/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1.15/libxpcom.so" which was not the version
that I had installed at the time. At the time I had version 1.9.2.12
installed.

Just to see what would happen, I tried installing Firefox (package
version 4.0~b7+nobinonly-0ubuntu3) and rebooting. As I expected, this
did not change yelp's behavior in any way.

@William Moon: Which xulrunner package and version do you have now on
your system? (I know you had 1.9.2.12+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1
when you reported the bug initially.) My affected system is now running
xulrunner-1.9.2, version 1.9.2.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.
I am starting to think
My system (without Firefox installed) is fully updated, and I still
experience the problem.
To correct what I said in an earlier comment: My system does have the
file /usr/lib/xulrunner-2.0b7/libxpcom.so, but I was wrong when I said
that file is part of the package xulrunner-2.0-dbg. According to
The problem just went away today after the latest Ubuntu update which
included Firefox, Thunderbird, and xulrunner, among others.
