I've restarted pulseaudio many times due to this noise in the left
channel since I filed this bug. I'm now hearing it in (only) the right
channel for the first time that I recall.

I was trying to see if the noise was proportional to the volume of what
I was listening to, and... I don't think it is.
But more interestingly, if I turn the volume way down with, say,
mplayer's volume controls, so that I can't hear it, and then crank the
volume up on my USB audio thing, I can hea
