Thanks a million hn-bakkar, your small tweak has brought back my sound.
Just by disabling IEC958 in GNOME ALSA Mixer, I got my sound back. I 'm
really happy for getting back the sound. Thanks again for sharing the

Found a workaround:
Install GNOME Alsa Mixer
sudo apt-get install gnome-alsamixer
Now open GNOME ALSA Mixer from Applications - Sound Video - GNOME
ALSA Mixer
Choose the tab: “CA0106…”
Turn on “Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack”
= Deselect IEC958
That’s it now your sound should work as

Title:
[Ubuntu 10.10 0 - Soundblaster CA0106] ALSA test tone not correctly
I have the same problem since one month with ubuntu 11.04. Sound was ok with
ubuntu10.10. In system testing:
SVG_Color_Image_Xubuntu.svg_testing OK list_audio_devicesPassed
Playback_autoFailed
playback_headphonesFAILED
alsa_record_playback_internalFAILED
alsa_record_playback_internalFAILED
I have the same issue with ubuntu 11.04. The funny thing is that the
sound has been working for a while and then, after an upgrade, it
suddenly stop working.

Any hope to have it working again ?

[Ubuntu 10.10 0 - Soundblaster CA0106] ALSA test tone not
I've have the same problem since a kernel update in 10.10 (don't know which one
sadly).
The soundcard is recognized without errors but any try to play sound fails
(e.g. in the test speakers window in the sound preferences).
The problem is still there after upgrading to 11.04 beta and even with

unpackaged, and installed... ? Maybe this will help something - not
sure. Also, the documentation says to state how I'm expecting to
receive audio output:
