Actually disregard that for now. First try removing the google talk
plugin and then try reinstalling this package. See if that works.

Another thing... running a "sudo dpkg --configure -a" gets me some
interesting output:

Done a few updates of packages since the upgrade. Most times, there is
a 'fail' at some point - that means that KPackageKit has to abort/close

Another update. Rebooted again (always hopeful that it will solve
itself!!!)
I ran the a sudo dpkg --configure -a in Yakuake terminal and got the
following:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for markh:
Setting up nspluginwrapper (1.2.2-0ubuntu9) ...
plugin dirs: :/var/lib/flashplugin-ins
OK. Quick update.
I rebooted the system and it boots in fine. KDE looks great, but
starting to pick up some errors. I went to install updates and so on -
and hit a snag.
Firstly, I re-enabled the Skype repository in sources, so that it checks
if Skype has updated software. No problems.
