is the worst and most user unfriendly version I've met so far, and I've
been testing all and using some of the versions since 6.10) and
installed 10.04 instead, where not only I do not have this problem, but

I am going to change the package. Since all the programs you are
referring to use the apt-get system at their base, I am moving it to
that package where it will get more views from their maintainers. If
they feel necessary, they may choose a more appropriate package within
the apt system.
