looking at the attached log i see that you have misconfigured ufw.
Try:
sudo ufw logging off
to stop logging all the traffic
Please also take a look at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UFW

What do you mean misconfigured? What's misconfigured about it?
I turned off logging, made doing so no difference in the CPU behavior I
described in my bug. Regardless, how can turning on logging be a
misconfiguration?
I disabled UFW so no firewall was on, but this also did not change the
CPU
I just booted from a LIVE CD of 10.04 LTS. At idle, the CPU is running
between 46-55%. So better than my installed setup, but still
problematic.
