Today's update did install a new kernel. Again bcmwl wasn't rebuilt
after the installation of the new kernel, see the attached log.

Did rebuild the bcmwl kernel module manually directly after the kernel
update without a reboot in between. Seems not to look suspicious, the
log file produced by this action.

Your idea with brcm80211 is right: This module *did* work about 3 months
ago for me - but has ceased to work for me since then-

cause of this bug. You can find the file make.log by running this
command in a terminal:

If you have a new enough Broadcom wifi chip, you might not even need
bcmwl-kernel-source installed as Broadcom seem to be replacing it with
the kernel module brcm80211.
