Trying to get this bug report into some order, so was renaming the
attachments. That particular one was replaced by a more recent
attachment, so I deleted it. See the list of attachments on the bug
report - hope you agree it is somewhat easier to follow now.

Thanks. Please attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and also /var/log/syslog for
the one that is not working in Unity.

Also please include the output from:

and please ensure you are fully up-to-date before doing so.

Hi, the first 3 attachments are from the ´non-unity´ system and the
last 3 are from the ´unity´ system. Hope that makes sense.

The first attachment display_non_U was actually another copy of xorg.0.log.
Perhaps you could re-attach the output of:
sudo lshw -C display; lsb_release -a
from the non-working machine.
But according to the xorg files, we have some interesting kernels in
use:

Does either have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? I think mostly this is no

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. Running 'lspci' gives me , among other
things, 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc R520
[Radeon X1800]; but when I run 'lsmod | grep video' all I get is the
prompt. This is the same on both my versions of Natty.

This doesn't sound much like a Firefox bug, I have changed to Unity
which I suspect is closer to the mark.
As to why it might work on one release and not another, I suspect it is
down to the graphics driver that you had running in each. In the fresh
install perhaps you ticked the option for
