Bruno: Please tell me which version you use. Try the latest version from

point of view this is fixed in gutsy, because the Atheros problems were
fixed in 1.45.

I tried ndiswrapper from Synaptic (1.9) and the last version which I
compiled. I tried it with the DLink driver, this driver worked well in
Edgy.
Once I call "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper", the computer is freezed and
it's unbootable, I get "soft lockup in CPU#0".

Have you tried the other driver? If you're using dlink's try lenovo's or
vice-versa.

Are you sure the delay is related to ndiswrapper? Are you on a clean

This appears to also be a problem with non-Atheros cards. Multiple
people are reporting problems with the Netgear WG311v3 (a Marvell

This is kernel-bug. Hopefully this will be addressed upstream. Otherwise
there's a workaround for ndiswrapper.

I worked with my Atheros windows driver problem with Ndiswrapper, the result:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1700889&group_id=93482&atid=604452
Seems the atheros windows driver and 2.6.19 and above malloc behavior
didn't work right, they have patches, trying now.

confirm or otherwise post a short howto?
Note: ndiswrapper -l only states "driver installed", not "driver installed,
