Ohh unfortunately this is not a bug. i2c-i801 is not a sensor but the bus
to provide access to available sensors, if they are.
sensor-detect will display and attach you any known or supported sensor. If
sure you have sensor on this bus but it was not detected better place to begin

I have the same problem and get the same error. I built my own PC
though. The motherboard is an Intel D975XBX2. I get readings just fine
on vista and XP using Speedfan or the Intel utility.

I discovered something that might help.
Since this problem seems to occur because of a bug in the current kernel
(2.6.20 in feisty), i tried to run Gusty, a newer version of Ubuntu,
which I think uses the 2.6.21 kernel).
Same problem occurred, although when I ran sensors-detect I got

I have a Sony Vaio VGN running Feisty Fawn. My sensors-detect is exactly
the same as the original post with the exact same no sensors result

I have the same problem I guess. I get the same output from sensors-
detect but sensors keeps complaining. gkrellm works and luckily I can
control my fan manually with i8kfan (dell inspiron e1505).

To make the sensors modules behave correctly, add these lines to
/etc/modules:
