I have also had this problem with a new Ubuntu 8.04 final ISO downloaded
multiple times and burnt to several CD's finally installed OK using
alternate install CD. At the recommendation of some people on Ubuntu
forums tried all_generic_ide floppy=off irqpoll kernel parameter but
still failed this w
No response, despite repeated requests. Closing.

Hi,
These type of bugs are extremely hard to track down without more
information. I have a couple of further questions.
1. You say the installation process hangs at boot time. Do you mean
here that the liveCD fails to boot to the desktop? Alternatively, does
the liveCD boot to the desktop, but
I forgot to mention the CD also pass the integrity check with no errors.

Does the CD pass the integrity check in the boot menu? (Go to the menu
that you get after the CD loads but before it starts booting, and run
"Verify CD integrity")
