Thank you for reporting. I wonder if this old issue may be fixed in
1.4.9 which is about to be released in Karmic. Please verify.

in my case the error happened on Hardy. My system has a lot on it, and
may or may not be representative of most systems. I have several window

This basically happened to me while I was following the wiki guide to
install chinese on Kubuntu

en_US.UTF-8 locale. Whatever I do, I've never been able to get chinese
input working under Kubuntu/Kde, it works fine under
Oh, and given the number of reports of this bug, and how crippling it
really is for people that need CJK input, may I suggest to raise the
priority of this bug a notch?

Greetings, Nicolas!
I'm sorry! I'm using Kubuntu Feisty Fawn. The developer replied me that this

Hi, Nicolas.
I don't think this bug is critical. In fact, SCIM ran well on my
Kubuntu FF box after I've sent the first report (disabled notification
after two occurences).

Speaking of Kubuntu, it's a shame that disabling SCIM does
not restore standard Konqueror arrow navigation

Now we are having 15 duplicates of this bug, yet not much idea what the
problem is. As the crash seems to be related to KDE and skim, it may
not be simply a scim bug.
There are three parts involved: skim, scim and (likely) scim-qtimm.
Also Qt 3 in Ubuntu is patched to make scim-qtimm work. Any
FWIW, I ran openSUSE 10.2 with skim-scim package (configured
automatically by YaST) and it had no problem. I don't know if the
openSUSE dev team patched any of the components (I am no dev, so I
don't know how to check), but it is probably worth investigating.

In the sake of clarification, it doesn't crash *everytime* on kubuntu
neither. I eventually happen to get CJK input works in KDE-Kubuntu,
altough it wasn't as straightforward as it could be. (And i'm still
unable to get CJK input in ooffice, but that's another issue). The times

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem (symptoms) and I'm also running
kubuntu with skim.
Thanks.

That's okay. It will be a while before I fully understand how
everything works in Linux, but that sounds about right to me.
Thank you very much, Ming.

Don't worry about this, it's normal to have two scim-launcher process.

The crash only seems to happen when scim and skim are installed
together. Uninstalling skim helped me (and I can still use scim for my
usual input methods), but that won't be of much help if you absolutely
need to have scim load at startup.
