Unstable version of libcairo2 comes from ppa xorg edgers Fixed the immediate issue by changing the GTK+ Appearance in System Settings to Raleigh and then back to oxygen-gtk Works fine. Downgrading libcairo2 has apt-get wanting to upgrade. Getting that back to stable state would involve deactivat

This "bug" should be closed or moved to a forum. The problem is related to System Settings > Application Appearance > GTK+ Appearance changing GTK + styles, Widget style (dropdown) to Raleigh made Inkscape and GIMP work properly. After launching both apps, changing that Raleigh to oxygen-gtk mad
