Title:
Blender crashes when an object is selected
To manage
I have changed the Selection render mode to OpenGL Occlusion Queries under
User preferences - System tab.
Default is Auto. Now the viewport selection is fast.
System:
-Ubuntu 14.04.1 64bit 3.13.0-41-generic,
-Intel HD4600 (i5 4460),
-GTX 750Ti.
With Blender 2.71 on Xubuntu 14.04, right-click often crashes as
described above when using the Intel integrated GUI (HD 4600, Mesa
drivers 10.1.3), but never when using the discrete Nvidia GTX 870M GPU
with Nvidia graphics driver 331.38.

Update from December 2013... Forgot all about this bug. Haven't had
this problem occur at all this year (2013). Assuming it was due to
some combination of linux kernel, device drivers, graphics board,
standard libraries, etc.

Hello,
I have the same problem since yesterday (or maybe longer, but i didn't noticed,
my pc is new). I use Linux Mint 15 and a Radeon HD 3000 . It is probobly a
duplicate of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34495 .
** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #34495
Problem may be solved. Seeing on other forums that app crashes are
sometimes due to the graphics card driver, I switched from whatever
default Ubuntu uses for the ATI Radeon 5450, to the proprietary fglrx.
That was a wild adventure in itself, and broke my dual monitor setup
until I switched to
