@rubiojr, I came back from the long CNY holiday and tried to follow up
this bug. But unfortunately, I failed to reproduce that with either
stock 12.04 or upgrading from stock 11.10 to 12.04.
Could you please try to install a fresh Ubuntu from livecd and reproduce

I wish I could but all I have is this MBA which is my production laptop
right now, so reinstalling is not an option...
I may give it a shot in a few weeks though.

the behaviour any different now when there's xserver 1.11 et al in

Curtis, your description of the problem sounds like an X issue to me.
Can someone experiencing this with the MacBook Air 4,1 confirm whether
or not the workaround reported by Curtis works on that machine as well,
and also report whether or not the keyboard works in a VT when it is not
working on
I can confirm the workaround works for me and keyboard works reliably in
a VT. I swear that was not the case a few kernels ago though... o_O

Odd, I've been running every precise kernel for a while now on a MacBook

Please try the following when the keyboard is not working, using an
external keyboard. Install the input-utils package, then run 'sudo
lsinput' and look for the one that
I have the exact same hardware, and the exact same issue with 3.2.0-9.16
I tried 3.2.1-030201 and it resolves the issue perfectly. In fact,
simply booting 3.2.1-030201, then rebooting into 3.2.0-9.16 makes
3.2.0-9.16 behave properly.
This seems related to the touchpad also, as the touchpad did

@rubiojr, is it possible for you to get the output of lsmod without
inserting an external USB keyboard? E.g. you can ssh to it and run the
command. I'm wondering there's something wrong with your udev rules.
BTW, I recommend you install a fresh stock Ubuntu Precise from ISO
instead of upgrading

Not sure if that helps, but booting 3.2.0-8.14 with a Logitech

remove the receiver and everything works Ok so far. That's the reason I
