I was unable to recreate this bug with Intrepid after I set the launch
help keyboard shortcut back to Fn+F1.

I'm also not certain this belongs with xkeyboard-config, but until it's
investigated more deeply, that's as good of place as any for it. It
sounds like it is less of a configuration issue and more of a driver
issue (xserver-xorg-input-kbd) but I'm not 100% certain.

I can confirm this bug, preessing the touchpad on/off button the error
message appears in "dmesg" and the help browser is launched. This
happens on Compaq presario F730US Laptop.

I was able to work around this bug by disabling the "Launch help
browser" keyboard shortcut in Gnome.

I have been playing around with 'scankey -s' a bit, testing differant
variations. I have finally figured out what is happening.
If you hit Fn + F1 it will emit the signal 0xe0 0x75 when the button is
pressed.
If you turn back on the touch pad it also emits the signal 0xe0 0x75.

then the problem could be just a simple overflow problem.

This would likely cause an overflow which would drop the first digit off the
