Could you try to enable "Two-finger scrolling" in
System Setting->Mouse and Touchpad->Touchpad->Two-finger scrolling
to see if double click can work?
Looks single/double click function is nothing to do with low level usb
hid driver.
Also for X freeze, not sure if it is a X bug
I too have a non working Quanta touchscreen 3008. First reported this as
Bug #981098 which has now been marked as a duplicateof this bug. Mine
touchscreen is on a Dell Inspiron 2310. Is there any point me

issue. single touch works (as a single mouse click) for a while, then it
freezes X. Have to reboot by switching to console.

/sys/module/hid_multitouch/drivers/hid\:hid-multitouch/new_id

Just something to think about, touchscreen input is supposedly handled
in "modern" kernels using the module hid-multitouch. Said module
supposedly supports the eGalaxis touchscreen, but it just doesn't work.

mainline build.
The Duo would be a nice Ubuntu Showcase, and the eGalax hardware seems
to be relatively well supported under Linux. Sad to see that Precise
