I've replicated this bug and found a solution on Ubuntu Feisty $ sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/griffith.desktop And remove the MimeType line $ sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache Remove the relationship between application/executable and griffith.desktop And that's all...

Just to be sure, i created another user-account. It didn't suggest to use griffith anymore. (it was not in the right-click menu) But it was associated though! If I did a right-click properties .. and went to the open-with tab, it showed. I wanted to create a screenshot from that account though,
