Looks like the jbofihe binary [1] was originally built for 10.04, at
least for most architectures. So that seems to be unchanged. The only
direct dependency it has is glibc. I haven't really looked into how
easy/tri
So there are approximately 3 possibilities:
1) Some library it's linked with has been fixed/changed
2) Some compiler change has made it go away
3) Perhaps the bug is still there but only triggered if unlucky due to data
alignment etc - so you got lucky this
time.

Unfortunately it does, it was only starting with 13.04 I was no longer
able to trigger the crash. Normally when bugs are fixed, they can be
fixed in earlier releases via Stable Release Upgrades [1] by taking a
small patch and applying it to older v
Confirmed. Error does not occur in my 13.10 install.
jbofihe package hasn't changed; I suspect it's a fix in libc6:i386 that came
with the dist-upgrade to 13.10.

The crash is still present in Ubuntu 12.10. However, starting with
Ubuntu 13.04, I am no longer able to reproduce it. It's a bit of a
mystery why since both contain version 0.38-5.1 of the package, so it is
not clear to me what changed. Nevertheless, since the crash is gone, I
