After some more testing, I am convinced this issue is related to the
power management settings. With the laptop booted and running on
power (not on battery), WLAN works flawlessly even after many resumes.
Once I switched to batter and back or stayed on battery, the issue
crops up again.

3.4-rc1 works great. I have no issues with Wireless with it. However,
there are other issues that prevent me from using it on a daily basis.
On a side note, 3.4-rc1 is much better at power consumption than 3.2

is by rmmoding and modprobing the iwlwifi kernel module again.

same results. I am still getting data stoppage and now it happend
100% of the time. Every time I reboot, the machine connects to the

Bad news guys. This still happens even after installing the backports
as per Leann's recommendation. As a matter of fact, it is more
repeatable.
The best way to fix it is to load and unload the iwlwifi kmod.
