I spoke with mjg59 in #ubuntu-kernel. He told me to remove the CD-drive. After doing so. The boot process went back to normal. (small stall at the beginning, but only 30 seconds max) No longer do I get any ata errors . Attached is dmesg for Linux finalbeta-laptop 2.6.20-14-386 #2 Mon Apr 2 20:34
