Dapper Drake to Edgy Eft (even with reinstalling the system from
scratch). grub does not properly generate the menu.lst so I can't boot
without editing manually the startup script. It is a problem of UUID by

open it up a moment later, more than one time over two, the network (WiFi) is

I still have the same problem with another distrib (Archlinux), which recently
upgraded to alsa 1.0.14rc3.
Since this isn't ubuntu specific, it's probably not the right place to talk

I suffer from the same problem (which I already reported in bug #92321,

amarok is started at KDE startup (because it was running when KDE was

Before plugging the usb device, I manually do "modprobe rt73usb"
otherwise the system becomes unusable just like in Jaco's comment.
After the device is plugged the rt2570 driver gets automatically loaded and I'm

Same problem here but I got it since I upgraded from Edgy to Feisty. I
have an nVidia Geforce 7300 with ubuntu nvidia drivers and I just
noticed it did that since I had compiz activated. When I do a CTRL ALT
BACKSPACE, my the black screen (sometimes I can see the mouse cursor)

I installed 704 on Asus Z92M with Realtek 8111/8168 PCIe card. The live
CD also doesnt make the network work. It loads r8169 module but "wired
connection" is greyed out. Finalyl I loaded r1000 driver and link is
detected etc but doesnt get an IP from a DHCP. The DHCP server hands out

The first boot-up after the computer's been off for a while, it gets to
"Loading hardware drivers.." or so and it just shuts down. Doesn't sound
very healthy. If I just power it up again immediately, it boots just

Seems like lots of folk don't have any MD devices and don't plan to.
Removing the mdadm package will stop the errors and allow an initrd to be built
OK. And since it's only necessary when accessing MD devs, it won't cause
problems if you don't use that feature.

A little more information. This was working just fine when the original
PPC installation was Herd-4 with dist-upgrades on an almost daily basis.
The problem appeared when I did a fresh install of the Feisty PPC
release (ports, alternate install iso).

an update on this bug - i was able to update the computer to 7.04, but
had to boot to an old 2.6.15 kernel after the update to 6.10 was done.
this caused some confusion to the updater which was easy to fix, but the
end result was an updated box that does not exhibit the kernel panic
when booted to
I only confirmed it, as it does the exact same thing, in Feisty on two
different machines running embedded Intel HDA cards. There is nothing
special about the install or anything.

Hi,
dapper and edgy installed flawlessly with "pci=noapic" on my Thinkpad
R30. acpi=off is NOT needed, but PCI/IRQ-Routing should be set to
"Automatic" in the BIOS. Even suspend to disk works. The only remaining
problem is suspend to ram (which did not bother me much). There are
ACPI-related erro
