When moving files from place to another, the computer would freeze up,
and in order to fix it, I would have to ctrl alt backspace. I will try
to give as much information about the problem as possible. =) I had 2
windows open, with the window I was dragging from in focus. If I
I was able to recreate the problem on another computer, but it is not a
problem with just the trash can. I moused over the home folder while
dragging / dropping, and the system also froze up. The mouse does not
freeze up, though. Hope this helps!

pnpacpi=off workaround fixed the issue and I have sound again. Looking
at the intel hda module loading error it seems to have memory space
overlap issues as it fails to allocate memory for that specific device.
But it seems you already know the solution.

I have the same problem with Hardy release. Mouse cursor moves jerky, desktop
applications work slowly, but if I run any fullscreen application (like OpenTTD
or Tuxracer) everything works fine in this particular application. The compiz
'water' plugin (the one with the rain drops effect) also see

TrendNet TK-409 KVM (USB keyboard & mouse + sound switching that I'm not
using). My problem box is currently a dual boot XP & Ubuntu 7.10 box (a

I forgot to update that topic... my workaround didn't work as I expected. After
another reboot, the issue was back :-(
Currently, I can't use the normal KDE shutdown buttons (Logout, Shutdown,
Reboot). I switch to the console and manually execute "reboot" or "halt".

over 3Mbit.
Internet speed tests are also limited to 3-4Mbit.
This is with a strong 54Mbit connection - the laptop is also the only WLAN
device on the WLAN router/AP.
Tested with Netgear router,
I checked on the final hardy release and the bug doesn't happen there. I
guess it was fixed.

I also reinstalled on a test machine and had the problem as well. I am
sure now that Evolution did not cause the problem, I never used it on
the test pc. It must be a problem with Network Manager.

performed on 4/26 using the main server. The date/time applet did not
display weather and left-clicking on it would freeze gnome. I do not use
google calendar or evolution. The problem went away immediately when I

Confirmed for me also, just wanted to add that it's possible to change
the keyboard layout in /etc/X11/xorg.conf from 'us' to your chosen
layout. The change will then stick across restarts.
Think the problem might be that xorg.conf isn't updated by the gnome
keyboard configuration tool.
