Confirming the same behavior on my Dell Vostro 1500 and its integrated webcam :
* Before starting the video recording, the preview works and the status LED of

And the shutdown process takes only 5 - 6 seconds which is normal, OK.

testing on the hardy live cd (64bit only, so far). Gutsy drivers didn't
help, but then again I haven't tried wep. I need wpa because there's too
many other APs around here.

get the error in console mentioned above. Just when I use Format -

Thanks Jeroen, it seems to work better (something changed in gnome
mixer. However the problem still exists : the canal playback : ALSA PCM
on front : 0 (ALC861 analog) via DMA (pulseaudio), that allows me to

I suffer the same issue. If I rip the DVD files to disk and them burn them
back, the k3b/mkisofs error message is the same as above.
However, this only occurs if the total file size is close to 4.4 GB. Smaller
DVDs ( 4 GB) do not seem to be affected.
I have not tried other distro's than 8.04 and
I haven't had lockups after I upgraded my bios, started using fixed DSDT
and reinstalled almost every kernel, fglrx packages and gdm. This was
with Acer Aspire 5022, bios 1.13 -- 1.20. This is day 3 without

I can use a wpa2 network with wpasupplicant using the hardy live cd
(iwl3945+wpasupplicant). But I can't connect to this mschapv2 university

It appears when one asks for bigger icons in the kontact/kmail toolbars. It
seems to come from incomplete icon themes, for instance the icon named

After launching xqf it runs without problems. But, if I start Nexuiz
(double-clicking on a server),
xqf goes to 100% CPU as soon as I _exit_ Nexuiz. The window is not updated
properly anymore.

The debian/changelog entry for this version says:
Removed cx88/saa1734 media modules. Only build ALSA modules for these
devices.
However, the file saa7134-alsa.ko is not actually present in the deb.
The ALSA modules were removed _along_ with the main ones.

I've tried your solution and in my case it only adds in gnome mixer.
Moreover, the headphones stopped work. When you remove options snd-hda-
intel model=3stack from /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, the full is still at
full volume at each startup but the headphones work.
