I turned back to the radeon driver (radeon_drv.so) where I get the
miInitVisualsProc fault and the dri (libdri.so) ABI version mismatch. So there
seems to be more issues around ati and xserver-xorg.

I can confirm that the fix in intrepid-proposed works correctly on my
dell 1537. I get sound from the head phone jack that previously did not
output anything, and the other head phone jack works correctly by not
outputting any sound through the speaker.
