Confirmed. I've just been hit by this myself (on Intrepid).
It took about half an hour to work out that it was gnome-open, because
neither top, nor htop, nor gnome-system-monitor were any use at all.
All three showed 100% total CPU usage, but none showed what was using
it: adding up the CPU

I tried connecting the laptop to a different monitor (Samsung SyncMaster
226BW), nothing changed, so I guess it doesn't depend on the VGA/monitor
combination (not that I really believed that the monitor had anything to
do with it, not I'm sure it doesn't).
I removed brand and model of the monitor
created a patch for /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/20

with that file patched, I can suspend using gnome power manager, and

I am also experiencing this this on an AMD64 system. Gnome desktop
environment. I do not believe the window decorator is crashing as
pressing F11 twice fixes the display issue. When I disable COMPIZ, the
problem goes away. Is there a specific place that does 'per
window/application' special

In Konsole, in order to identify opened sessions with numbers, I put a

Thank you for your bug report. I've sent this upstream as a feature
request to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=578032. In the
meantime, you can use the x^y key and use a fractional power to achieve
the results you want

I don't think it is being caused by NetworkManager. I tried installing
Wicd and uninstalling NetworkManager and I got the kernel panic too. It
looks more like a problem of the network card 3945abg, than something
related to NetworkManager.
I also tried using Fedora 10 and got the same kernel
Just did a fresh install and enabled it via ubiquity no trouble, so the
session.sh is working. next question then is
what's ~/.dmrc look like for you?
