If you want to renew the version on your own risk (some of these packages are
experimental) then this is what I did and it worked.
This guide assumes that you have build-essential and checkinstall installed.

default-java is not an alternative that can be served by any JDK/JVM

As far as I can tell, the gtkdocize tool generates a makefile that
doesn't work right from a build directory. The way it's all set up, if
you run the configure in the source directory, then cd into libudev/docs
and run make there, you'll get correct documentation files... but only

Romano Giannetti, probably your problem is caused by another bug and not
this one.
Can you attach your /usr/lib/cups/filter/cpdftocps file and post the
output of the shell command
dpkg -l | grep cups
Can you also provide an error_log as described in the CUPS error_log
section of

I found out the problem.
Two weeks ago I changed router.
The old one uses 10.0.0.x LN IPs, the new one 192.168.1.x IPs.
I have two printer, one of them is configured through IPP.
Freezes happened when it tried to contact that printer (but PC had a new
IP number).
I fixed it removing old printer
Still present in Lucid.

I installed lucid the latest daily build 10-Feb-2010 08:13 699M Desktop CD
for 64-bit PC (AMD64) computers, run updates but the system hangs Freeze,
can't do anything but pressing the power button to shutdown the computer, after
restart boot ok, when u see the mouse
I would like this bug to be re-opened. I get the same error after installing
ecryptfs-utils and I can't remove it.
I am using x64 Jaunty 9.04. Since installing the package, sometimes I can't
even login after locking my screen - it just hangs.

The same bug on my new Thinkpad W500. The system randomly freezes and the /A\
under the screen is blinking.

this is probably one of the most irritating bugs on gnome

Steve: I tried you conf file, it made no difference. The system freezes
once I hit enter.
Workaround that worked for me:
at grub select recovery mode. select drop to root option and just enter
start gdm. once gdm comes up I am able to use enter key without any
issue. I read this/similar work
