Currently, rubber returns false if some processing failed, and true if
everything went fine. This is standard behaviour: not doing anything
because the output document is up to date is not a failure. I do think
it is the way it should be.

Well, if all the application is doing is drawing an icon in a box using
the default window background color, as soon as the theme has something
different, like a gradient, the box will be visible. I don't see how the
theme can fix this apart from using the plain window background color as
the panel

instances), logged out and on again, and have yet to see the
applications properly. As of now, I get some rectangles, only, as in the
attachment.
