This happends on Lucid, Maverik and probabbly Karmic (not tested). In
many PC's installing ubuntu (via LiveUSB or LiveCD) will be painfully
slow, not the install but hitting the next button will take to a 5 secs
delay between each step, and, like 10 secs to the partitioner.
Since Intel users are also affected by this, the problem might be caused
by some common parts of kernel KMS DRM code shared between intel and
radeon. It has been suggested the IRQ handling in DRM (latency) might be
cause of problem, in upstream fdo bug28106. Would be great to get this

I had the same problem (bit rate locked to 1 Mbps) and then installed
linux-next compat-wireless release (from today, 2010-06-05) as suggested
in comment 3. This seems to fix the problem for me.
linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-generic version 2.6.31.22.35 did
not solve the problem though.

I just booted 10.10 Maverick from Thursday's live CD on my Averatec
laptop. I then changed the cursor from the default to Redglass, and was
able to resize it - with the size of the arrow pointer cursor changing
as I moved the size slider. After
I found workaround for my problem. I suppose it's not related to xorg or
nvidia drivers.
The main cause seems to be that I still had legacy grub from Ubuntu
version 9 not updated to grub2. Because of that, the running kernel
version (2.6.31-20) was not the latest istalled (2.6.32-22); grub-update

I discovered that DPMS fails when I boot an instance of android emulator, which
is a 32bit app in my 64bit ubuntu.
After clicking start-launch on the emulator, g-p-m starts to print the error
when the screen timeout occurs, and even after exiting from the emulator this
problem remains.

Jan/cyco: fine it works for you - but which hardware (RaLink rt28?? or
other) and which access point (WPA/WPA2 mixed mode or other) did you
test? - as it does not work on a ASUS EeePC 1000H with rt2860 and mixed
mode AP at least for PhilGil and me.

This affects me too. No problems w/ proprietary nVidia driver.
Switching to 'Best Shapes' seemed to resolve the problem for me.

The error message in the attached log showed that you were trying to
remove libpam-runtime from the system. libpam-runtime is a pre-
dependency of essential packages, so removing it is not supported.
