I have the same problem after my upgrade to natty, cpu firmly stuck at 1.5Ghz.
installed cpufrequtils and can change governor now but it's no help, powersave
sticks to 187Mhz everything else sticks to 1.5Ghz.
had to modprobe p4_clockmod to get any governor working.

By system crash, I meant that all running applications close in a glance,
then a black screen is displayed and system seems to restart at user initiation
(e.g. Nvidia display, then page for user selection).

I've found this depends on the screen geometry. It may down to a more
general problem with freecol fullscreen not playing well with wide
screen resolutions now becoming common in newer monitors. I'll have to

In summary, what needs to be done as a workaround for this bug is:
1. Install the kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v2.6.37.6-natty/. I only use 32-bit so haven't tested
64-bit.
2. Add the following lines to /etc/rc.local before the exit 0 line:
modprobe acer_wmi
rmmod
I've tried it with the actual Ubuntu Kernel too, but same result. Doesn't
compile. I'll take some additional tests. Maybe I'll get it to compile then ...
Hopefully the Ubuntu Kernel does work with the WLAN chips build into this
laptop.

Wasn't me (not really). The bug-report window just popped up, after
installing a new kernel. Seems as if this Window popped up more than
once for the same error.
I could make vmware tools install after applying the patch for the
commercial version. It now compiles seamlessly with the Ubuntu
I am not sure, if this patch helps, because my setup is partly non
standard ...

Hello,
I have been having this problem and have tried various solutions. The
common solution I have tried that seems to be working for everyone else
is:
sudo service network-manager stop
sudo rm
I updated to firefox 5.0 recently and the bug is still reproduceable
always. Is there anything I can do to help resolving this bug?
