I'll test the newest mainline and post the results. Because oneric got
frozen I thought of going back to natty, now even a stock natty
installation freezes. I think the cause for this is a BIOS update that I
did while I was on natty some time ago. The update was proposing a fix
for a windows

Chances are that some kind of hidden undocumented processing
coefficients have to be enabled for this to work. You could try playing
around with hda-analyzer (the hda-analyzer tool is available in the snd-

I want to report that I have VERY similar problem with my OKI B410D printer
after upgrade to 11.10 from 11.04.
On 11.01 everything worked fine.
I've tried already different drivers, the recommended one, the one that is
provided by OKI and the proposed here hpijs/pcl5e driver.

LibreOffice has a long description, at least in french.
So, yes this bug is fixed now : with the new layout the text is no more
hidden by the stars.

Escaping of UTF characters in a translatable string needs fixing
Ran into this when updating to 11.10, I suspect that an incomplete
transition from /var/run to /run lead to it.
Anyway, purging the package was the cleanest fix.
