The problem is the driver sets the wrong remote protocol and there is no
way to make the protocol change persistent between reboots (or suspend).
Try the following (this is the way it works for me):
1) Change /etc/lirc/hardware.conf:
REMOTE_DRIVER="devinput"
REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/input/event14" <--
This affects me on an HP Envy 14 (intel + AMD 5650).
After installing fglrx I wasn't able to access my desktop. I purged
fglrx and tried Andrikos' PPA, which didn't help. After purging
everything, I was able to get LightDM up only after switching to the AMD
card via vgaswitcheroo. But then logg

Not sure if this helps, fresh install 12.10 64bit, account gmail managed by
google apps and gmail webapp doesn't work.
It ask for install, but when installed nothing happen, only a new icon added to
the launcher, no new notify etc etc

I wont say that this is resolved, as it' a bit too easy to say that just
because someone changed his Ubuntu version and another one said that he
recompiled Hugin.
At least an "how to" should be a minimum. That's not very serious.
