After review of the mainline kernel test procedure, I assess the risk to
my production machine as being too high.
My near identical test machine (no nVidia card) does not exhibit the
problem. It takes about 2 secs to display the password screen for the

USB 2.0 did appear to recognize installing flash drive and uninstalling flash

I wasn't able to get it mounted though.

Thank you for reporting this bug, as it is a USB Hardware detection
issue this should be filed against the linux kernel. The main issue here
seems to be the power management discrepancy, which is seen when you try
to connect devices to a USB Hub.

Please do reconsider backporting this for stable releases because the
current setup is completely broken and it's probably not a good idea to
leave it thus since it takes quite a while to figure out what is going
wrong.

I said that touch was working with 12.10 to some extent (I didn't test
much).
