Confirmed. This is related to how gnome-terminal starts up, via dbus /
systemd --user. Even if you type "gnome-terminal" in let's say an xterm,
it just notifies systemd to fire up the server. During this step,
environment variables get lost.
As a workaround, you could manually start up the server,

Here is another observation, when I run virtualbox on 17.10, and then
create a guest OS with 18.04 it runs fine, no kernel crashes. Thus this
evidence seems to point to the fact that 18.04 is not playing nicely
with the HP BIOS, but 17.10 does play nicely. 18.04 seems to have no
problems with the v
2.3.6 doesn't contain the regression, it can be synced.

I was struggling with this for quite some time and played around using
netplan.io and not using it. I figured out that you need to run "update-
initramfs -u" to make settings persist reboots in
"/etc/systemd/network/" when not using netplan.io.
But netplan.io saves the configuration in "/run/syste
I reinstalled Bionic to a fresh/clean state (for unrelated reasons) and
can't reproduce the freezing with the current kernel. A bit mysterious.

i have the problem when running the gnome wayland session in ubuntu

upgrades. What could be done is actually only checking if $2 exists or
not, since if I remember correctly we only have postinst configure
called with a version number in the case of upgrades or downgrades -
which I suppose don'

Problem is not with mdadm at all, that configured fine.
The problem is with init.d script proserver, which is missing LSB
headers and thus cannot be ordered due to a circular dependency.

I'm now using a mainline 4.17rc6 kernel, and it looks like ACPI errors
are gone, however nouveau will still make my system unstable, causing a
freeze on using `lspci` and on graphical login.

Only checking for the existence of $2 was the first thing I tried, after
having read about that method somewhere. What I found when testing was
that $2 always exists when executing postinst in keyboard-configuration.
In case of an upgrade it's the previous package version, and otherwise
it's the cu
I'm wondering if taking it out of ubuntu-server but adding it to cloud-
image seed would fix it for most people without breaking major use
cases.
