NVidia driver (Which works fine) using:

Hi. Yes, I understand this isn't too helpful, but I have no idea what
else I can tell about this bug. It happens every time when system boots
up with wi-fi switched off and ethernet cable is physically

I have this bug too.
When zd1211rw module is loaded, I have a eth1 interface. I can configure it
freely, but I cannot establish a conection.
Switching to ndiswrapper driver helps: I get a wlan0 interface and the
connection works (at least in 802.11b mode).

I encountered this bug too when debugging why the ntp information from
the DHCP server was ignored by the clients. Since all the information
from the DHCP server is not propagated by NetworkManager, the
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/* scripts do not help. All the

Confirmed here, too. Pulseaudio ate up to 50% of my 2.0 Ghz CPU, making
both the video and the audio stutter in mplayer and totem. What's worse,
you cannot stop pulseaudio daemon, and killing the process affects
playback quality. The only solution is to completely remove pulseaudio
from the system.

I have just upgraded from nvidia drivers v.177 to v.180 and ran into this bug,
so it is definitely nvidia's fault. I do use compiz though.
The easiest way to fix this is to run nvidia-settings. Somehow the screen gets
aligned right.

This is a simple PC, with MSI MB on 845PE chipset, Celeron 2.0Ghz and
nvidia GF ti4200 videocard. It doesn't have a battery as you might have
already guessed. Unfortunately, this is the first time I tried hibernate
function on ubuntu with this PC, so I cannot provide you with more info.
I just hit
I did as you requested. After I hit enter it started doing something
than stopped. I could print characters in terminal, but I could not do
anything or stop (Ctrl+C) the process. I could also switch to other
terminals, but I couldn't login. Switching to graphics (alt+f7) gave me
a black screen afte
The only line I get is

Chris, I tried to export document to MS Office 2003 XML format using
OpenOffice 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.10 (installed from http://ppa.launchpad.net
/openoffice-pkgs/ubuntu), but it fails with following error:
Error saving the document : write error. The file could not be

Confirmed, my PC failed to hibernate, too. Jaunty 9.04 alpha installed.
Unfortunately, apport failed to attach logs.

No, I have other hardware than Philinux, although I too have an nvidia
card installed. Apport won't let me post this bug like Philinx - no
files are automatically attached to the bug report . =(

Prathap, certain sound 'channels' are sometimes not controlled by master
volume, like MIDI (timidity). What do you use to test the volume?
