Title:
kernel 4.4.0-63 with USB WLAN RTL8192CU freezes desktop
To manage
Used the ubuntu 16.04 server x386 iso
(http://zw.releases.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-16.04.2-server-i386.iso),
burned to a DVD. My old desktop has 310mb ram, P3 800mhz. Received this
same error. Could not continue with install.. Documentation says 192mb
minimum. This is untrue.

I have this problem too. Adding wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no to
NetworkManager.conf does resolve it.
A relevant question: Why does this only affect usb wifi dongles? My
internal iwl3945 chip was/is not affected. How does Network Manager
treat pci and usb devices differently?

Confirm 4.8.0-47.50 from proposed works. There is no freeze/kernel
crash, and my rtl8192cu based wifi dongle works again.
@bernhard001-gmx - Sure. This waffling is likely because attention is on
17.04 showstoppers right now.
