Putting matplotlib 0.91.4 in hardy-update is not really an option, there

Are you running a particular game when it crashes? I'm unable to reproduce the
crashing, at least when using Gnome. Gcompris works fine but if I go to
/usr/share/gcompris/python/, open a python shell and run from DWT import dwt I
get:

gcompris to crash. I couldn't find the specific activity that DTW was
used , everything I tried worked.

That looks like maybe a pbuilder problem and not a matplotlib problem. I
haven't used pbuilder for a while, but it builds just fine with sbuild. I'd
check to make sure your pbuilder is updated to latest Intrepid with both main
and universe repositories.

It was changed to go back to the upstream default. GTKAgg is also not
DE-neutral so brings in a lot of dependencies by-default for KDE users,
and also had some issues so it was decided to use the matplotlib
default. People can easily change the backend so we're just trying to
get a decent default.

Any progress towards talking with Debian? They're at 0.98.3-2 now. I've
requested a sync of sphinx which is needed for the newer matplotlib.

It's actually quite different than installing a new kernel. When a new
kernel is installed you can run the existing one just fine until you
reboot. When you change the hostname all kinds of things start
"breaking".

The version of lyx currently in Debian unstable reportedly fixes this
problem. Once we get it building in Intrepid (currently it fails to
build because of a problem with boost) then we can get it backported to
Hardy.

Yeah, I've been looking into this more over the last couple days. I think
fixing bugs in Network Manager is more productive. Reasons being:
1) it works in most cases. The case I was having problems with was static IPs
but I believe that is getting fixed in the next upload.
2) feature parity betwe
I've got this issue on my HP Pavilion dv6000 as well. Going back to the
-16 kernel works. With the -17 kernel resuming never works and I have to
do a hard reboot.
