I made a new discovery: when I've had full-screen playback and the
montior won't switch off anymore, going to suspend briefly fixes the
issue. After restoring, the monitor will switch off as usual (until the

annoying since the firefox-plugin doesn't show the error, but just won't
work. I could give you a dozen of movies where the error pops up now and

The description of the intel driver starts with "Experimentel
modesetting...". So if i810 is obsolete I guess changing the text to
something more informative for each driver would be useful.

This is still a big problem in Gutsy. I have never, repeat _NEVER_, let
apport finished running.
When an application crashes the cpu spikes to 100% and the whole system
becomes unresponsive. After a few seconds I usually manage to do a
"killall apport" and everything is peachy again. It never fail
And if there's some tool out there that is better at recovering data
than fsck, why not investigate running that tool instead (or maybe in
addition to fsck).
Anyways, asking and making it CRYSTAL CLEAR and DEAD SIMPLE what needs
to be done to get back to a working state is better than what's there
Kdevdesigner crashed also under gutsy.

I've got the same problem with network-manager. I'm on Kubuntu, and I'm
using it with the Knetworkmanager applet.

I'm running a fully updated Gutsy install.
Did mkdir /var/run/screen dir, chmod 775 and chgrp to utmp. Don't see
any point in doing "sudo screen" after that. :) (Fixed it before filing
the bug.) I also have screen instances running right now so deleting the
dir right now isn't an option.

time? Don't know. But yes, if it is supposed to be created by some init
script, and isn't, perhaps finding the bug in that script ai
fsck puts all data that can be salvaged in lost+found, right? Other than
that, is it really useful to dump the disk image for any other purpose
but debugging?

call my router via ip address, so it seems the DHCP is lost.

Actually, I don't think using rectangle mode is ok. :) It's a regression
compared to Metacity. Is there a bug about not using rectangle mode by
default?
But you're right, the rectangle should follow the theme color. :)

Yes, I know. But it is fixable (reparent to a window as large as the
screen while resizing... or some variant thereof).
So... it is still a "bug" and should be kept open until it is fixed in
Compiz and Ubuntu can change mode. (Having this fixed in Compiz won't
automatically mean that Ubuntu's defa

Btw, why is this bug only marked as "wishlist"? It's a major BUG for
people who don't know about fsck
("I can't start my Ubuntu system and have no means of going online to
check for the information. Right, going back to Windows.")

Though I was actually wondering more about getting this working without
having to install any extra packages, i.e. "out of the box". But maybe
