I'm currently running karmic, already for more than a month, without any
freezes. So at least it's fixed in the newer versions.
This bug could have to do with the RT61 driver since that caused problems as
well previously. I have a PCI card with that chip, but my brother has an
onboard one in his

Large(1600+) file operations worked flawlessly. Removing and installing

The provided patch indeed fixes the issue for me. However, the fix seems to be
a workaround, rather than a fix for the problem. Also it only checks for
2.6.31, but this bug was initially reported by someone using a 2.6.30 kernel

The bug report contains enough information for the developers to decide
what needs to be done to this. I can't find the cause, but maybe they
can. If not they'll probably know what to ask for next.

I've seen several keyboards in my life, but never with return on it.
Always with Enter. So I suggest to keep it this way. If you're really
think this can make things hard to understand for people you could
always make the word enter a tooltip. ;)

This bug can be confirmed, since two other reports report the same
problem. One of them has lshal -m attached, but that shows the same as
the one attached here, just more often.

Thank you for this report. I can confirm this.
However, it's not a bug, but a feature request. Changing the username requires
a lot of work. For example $HOME needs to be changed, but also /etc/passwd,
/etc/shadow and /etc/groups
And of course you could have some programs assigning certain rights
