Hi David,
Unfortunately, the new .so that you added in comment #26 does not work
either. I have attached the pactl list just in case.

Public bug reported:
Since Firefox was updated to version 12, the launcher script is

included the version in it : /usr/lib/firefox-11.0/firefox.sh.

According to http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-

all earlier releases, from Lucid to Oneiric.

Micah, the patch would work since it only adds a rule and leave the
firefox-* one. I do agree with you that firefox* is better though.
Recent versions are using PUx while Lucid uses the subobtimal Ux. Would
you mind to also use PUx on Lucid for people using a custom profile ?
Thanks

This problem also affects my Compaq Evo 500 (BIOS 686Y2 v3.04). Adding
INIT_HALT=poweroff to /etc/default/halt as is a valid workaround and
is still needed with the latest non-PAE 32bit kernel:

Linux famille 3.2.0-26-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 16:26:01 UTC 2012 i686

For those running OpenVZ/Proxmox containers, one simple workaround is to
disable the imklog module using this :
sed -i -e 's/^\$ModLoad imklog/#\$ModLoad imklog/g' /etc/rsyslog.conf
This fixes the 100% CPU usage of rsyslog in Natty, Oneiric and Precise
containers.
